What a Betfair football bot does, and how to pick one
A football bot places your bets on the Betfair Exchange for you, following rules you set. Here's what that means in practice and what to check before you choose one.

What a football bot actually does
On the exchange you can back a result to happen or lay it not to happen, across markets such as match odds, correct score and over/under goals. A bot watches those markets and, when a match meets your rules, places the bet on your account at the stake you've chosen. It doesn't get tired, miss a kick-off or bet bigger after a bad day.
What it won't do is find an edge for you. The rules you give it decide whether it wins or loses. A bot is a way of carrying out a strategy exactly, every time.
Desktop bot or cloud bot
Most Betfair bots are Windows programs. They only bet while the PC they're installed on is switched on and online, which is why many users end up renting a VPS, a remote Windows server, to keep them running.
A cloud bot runs on the provider's servers instead. You set it up in a browser, and it carries on betting with your own devices switched off. You can check on it or change it from your phone.
What to look for
- The markets you bet. Match odds, correct score, over/under goals.
- Conditions you can set. A price range, goals scored and the money matched on the market cover a lot of strategies.
- Risk controls. A stop-loss and a profit target per strategy, and a simulation mode to test first.
- Ways to bring selections. Build rules in the bot, or upload a list from a CSV file.
- Where your money sits. It should stay in your own Betfair account.

Questions
Are Betfair football bots allowed?
Yes. Betfair provides an API so software can place bets on your account. A bot uses that API with your permission, the same way the Betfair website does.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. With TheFootyBot you set up strategies by choosing markets and conditions, or switch on the included systems.
Will a bot make me a profit?
No bot can promise that. A bot places bets reliably and to your rules. Whether those rules make money is down to the strategy, and every strategy can lose.
